Eye Protection

EN165 Defines and explains the principal terms used in the field of personal eye protection.

EN166 Specification for personal eye protection, applies to all types of eye protectors used against various hazards, as encountered in industry, laboratories, educational establishments, DIY activities, etc., which are likely to damage the eye or impair vision, with the exception of nuclear radiation, X rRays, laser beams and low temperature infrared (IR) radiation emitted by low temperature radiation sources.

. The lens marking may bear any of the following notations –

2-1,2 Scale number of filters.

W Manufacturers identification code (in this case W represents Uvex).

1 – 3 Optical Class: 1 = best quality, 2 = medium quality, 3 = low quality.

-/S/F/B/A Mechanical strength. No symbol =minimum robustness, S = increased robustness, F = low energy impact (45 m/s), B = medium energy impact (120 m/s), A = high energy impact (190 m/s).

9 Non-adherence of molten metal and resistance to penetration of hot solids (goggles only).

K Resistance to surface damage by fine particles (optional).

N Resistance to misting (optional).
