Providing An Garda Siochana with CBRN protection
The area of CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) protection is a complex field as individual countries perceive the threat differently. CBRN was formerly considered only the concern of the military. However in recent years, to reflect the growing concern that the global civilian population is a very real target for the CBRN terrorist, a garment system has developed for the first responder (police, fire, medical etc). This system is based on the assumption that first responders will potentially need to be located at a CBRN affected location for longer periods – leading to very different requirements in the areas of protection levels, comfort and operational versatility.
Anderco Safety recently secured the contract for the supply and delivery of CBRN equipment to An Garda Siochana. The solution provided will focus on affording the greatest possible protection whilst meeting heat stress level requirements and delivering a degree of comfort and operational versatility. Component parts of the solution are currently in service with UK military, police and emergency services.
Anderco Safety currently sources and supplies products including ballistic vests, specialist clothing, public order equipment, road traffic equipment, vehicle warning equipment, fire-fighter equipment, harnesses and rescue equipment, clothing, footwear and PPE to the An Garda Siochana, the Prison Service, Army, Health Service Executive, Fire Services, Health & Safety Authority, City and County Councils nationwide, as well as private security companies. Key to providing an informed and expert service to these markets is a high level of ongoing market research and the allocation of resources to understanding the product applications and the environments in which they are used. Because of the increasing presence of serious risks, buyers in these markets are seeking suppliers with a focus on innovation, a strong technological foundation and a flexible approach to bespoke production.
